Abstract
As public health begins to embrace performance standards, it is important to critically examine state and local health department quality improvement and performance measurement systems. In this article, Florida's decade-long evolution of quality improvement and performance measurement as well as their integration are described. Lessons for other states are discussed along with implications for implementing performance standards for state and local health departments.Mesh:
