Testicular infarction in a patient with epididymitis.

S R Sue1, M Pelucio, M Gibbs.

Abstract

To the authors' knowledge, this case is unique to the emergency medicine literature. Although testicular infarction from epididymitis is rare, it should be considered as a complication of severe or unresolving epididymitis. These patients should be placed on broad spectrum antibiotics, i.e., quinolones; color flow Doppler of the testes should be obtained; and urologic consultation should be considered for possible admission and surgical exploration.
