Abstract
Two patients with acute acalculous cholecystitis after major surgical operations (cystectomy ad modum Bricker because of carcinoma of the urinary bladder, and proctocolectomy because of ulcerative colitis) are described. Various possible causes of acalculous cholecystitis after operation or after trauma are discussed. Postoperative acute acalculous cholecystitis has a more fulminant course than ordinary calculous cholecystitis. Treatment consists of immediate cholecystectomy.Entities:
