Distribution of agenesis of palmaris longus muscle in 12 to 18 years old age groups.

Abstract

In Gaziantep, a survey was made on 7000 students whose ages changing from 12 to 18, 1000 individuals for each age group. The tendon examination method about Palmaris Longus Muscle (PLM) agenesis was used in this study. In girls, unilateral PLM agenesis was found to be 23 percent. Bilateral PLM agenesis was 45.3 percent. In Boys unilateral and bilateral PLM agenesis was found to be 19.5 and 42.1 percent respectively. The overall percentage of agenesis in the total number of individual was 63.9 percent.
