Abstract
Protein iron-sulfur (FeS) centers have recently been implicated in the regulation of gene expression. In the redox-sensing SoxR protein, the oxidation state of [2Fe-2S] centers controls its activity as a transcription activator independent of DNA-binding ability. Thus, FeS centers allosterically link cellular oxidative stress to the expression of defense genes.Entities:
