Abstract
A fecal PCR assay for detection of Helicobacter infections in laboratory rodents was developed. DNA was isolated from murine fecal pellets, and a region of the 16S rRNA gene conserved among murine Helicobacter species was amplified. The fecal PCR was sensitive and specific. This assay does not require euthanasia of rodents, which is especially important for valuable rodents, such as transgenic mice.Entities:
