Abstract
The taxonomic position of seven strains of aquatic bacteria from Lake Baikal was determined based on the analysis of the nucleotide sequences of 16 S rRNA gene fragments. Three strains belonged to the gamma-sub-class of Proteobacteria, one strain, to the beta-subclass, and the other three stains were assigned to the genus Bacillus (gram-positive bacteria with a low G+C content).Mesh：
