Neuroimaging of primary brainstem gliomas: diagnosis and course.

R A Zimmerman1.

Abstract

MR imaging is the procedure of choice for identifying brainstem gliomas and classifying them anatomically. Serial studies show a poor prognosis for diffuse pontine gliomas, better outcome for exophytic medullary gliomas and an indolent course for most midbrain gliomas.
