Abstract
Because alterations in fetal oxygenation occur during labor and because many complications can occur during this critical period, some form of FHR evaluation should be provided for all patients. The choice of technique is based on various factors, including the resources available. Nonreassuring FHR patterns are common and quite nonspecific. By understanding the physiologic and pathophysiologic basis of FHR monitoring, as well as its capabilities and limitations, the clinician can reduce the need for interventions.Entities:
