Abstract
Results from in vitro selection experiments can be used to construct and test models for the evolution of the RNA world. Surprisingly, the success of selected RNAs at binding ligands and catalyzing reactions may make it difficult to determine precisely the lineage of molecular fossils, molecules that are believed to have survived from the RNA world to the present.Mesh:
