Abstract
In surgical outpatients who required immobilization with a plaster cast because of injury to the lower limb a deep vein thrombosis occurred in 14%. General thromboprophylaxis seems advisable for surgical outpatients and depends on the severity of trauma and thrombosis risk factors. In a study of 97 patients who received a daily subcutaneous injection of heparin fragment calcium throughout their cast period, only one patient with a deep vein thrombosis was seen.Entities:
