Retrieval techniques for managing flexible intracoronary stent misplacement.

K W Foster-Smith1, K N Garratt, S T Higano, D R Holmes.

Abstract

With the increasing use of flexible intracoronary stents, the likelihood of complications, including stent misplacement, will tend to rise. We describe the successful use of three commercially available retrieval devices: the nitinol gooseneck snare, the biliary forceps, and the multipurpose basket. We recommend the availability of these devices to operators involved in intracoronary stent placement.
