Abstract
Increased ethanol concentration in the nutrient medium gradually slowed down the growth of Escherichia coli cells. However, during growth in the presence of 5% ethanol, DNA synthesis per cell increased about 2.5-fold compared to control cells. There was a 40-45% increase in plasmid copy number in the ethanol-treated cells.Entities:
