Abstract
High-intensity focused ultrasound is a method of destroying tissue at a point distant from the transducer without injuring intervening tissue. A transrectal probe was developed and used to treat 26 canines in order to determine the feasibility of using this therapy in humans. Lesions of coagulative necrosis which evolved into cystic cavities were produced. Surrounding tissue was preserved without evidence of injury.Entities:
