Abstract
A gene encoding a DNA invertase-like enzyme was identified adjacent to the PaeR7I restriction-modification system (R-M), and was named paeR7IN (N for iNvertase). Sequence analysis revealed that this gene has the same polarity as the PaeR7IRM operon, and would encode a polypeptide of 21,506 Da. An amino-acid sequence similarity of 45-49% was found between the deduced protein product and various DNA invertases.Mesh:
