Abstract
The expression of the 25(OH) vitamin D3 24-hydroxylase gene was studied in C6 glioma and rat primary glial cell culture. The expression of the 25(OH)D3 24-hydroxylase gene was not detected in C6 glioma or glial cells cultured in a serum-free medium. However, the 25(OH)D3 24-hydroxylase mRNA was induced in a dose-dependent manner in cells treated with 1,25(OH)2D3. These findings provide further evidence for an involvement of vitamin D3 metabolites in brain function.Entities:
