Abstract
A modified version of the Global Assessment of Functioning Scale (GAFS-M) which is proposed as axis V for DSM-IV by Goldman et al. (1992), was analyzed in a consecutive series of 266 psychiatric patients. Scores were clearly dependent on ICD-10 diagnosis and on other psychiatric variables. The scale was almost independent on self-rating in relevant psychopathological dimensions. Altogether, the results favour the view that the modified version of the GAFS is an economic and sufficient instrument for assessing adaptive functioning in psychiatric patients.Entities:
