[Analysis of postoperative use of opiates and its relation to personal assessment (author's transl)].

L Grabow, F Schubert, N Pyhel, H J Eysenck.

Abstract

The study of pain by analysis of the postoperative consumption of opiates shows a significant influence of the operation and the personal factor N. High N-scores and long operations lead to a significant increase of the postoperative consumption of opiates. Fixed combinations for opiate medication are as useless as a time-fixed method for the giving of these drugs. The individual preparation and medication should always be preferred.
