Natural killer activity of Wistar rat spleen cells: blocking effect of homologous sera.

V A Lavrovsky, V K Viksler.

Abstract

The natural killer (NK) activity of lymphocytes from Wistar rats against mouse target cells wa studied using the 24 h microplate assay. The cytotoxic activity of NK cells was blocked in the presence of sera from adult rats and man, but not in the presence of sera from adult rats and man, but not in the presence of sera from cattle, rabbits, mice or newborn rats. The blocking serum factor was non-dialysable and inactivated by trypsin. In addition, data were obtained indicating that several continuous cell lines of mice differ significantly in sensitivity to Wistar rat spleen cells.
