SEM images of block faces, cut by a miniature microtome within the SEM - a technical note.

Abstract

A miniature microtome is described which functions within the specimen chamber of a typical SEM. SEM images are shown of successive faces of an Epon block of squid (Loligo pealei) fin nerve, cut with this instrument. The implications for 3-dimensional reconstruction are discussed.
