Glycosylated haemoglobins in the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and for the assessment of chronic hyperglycaemia.

B J Boucher, S G Welch, M S Beer.

Abstract

Evidence is presented that two levels of glycosylated haemoglobin can be defined which when exceeded indicate respectively the presence of diabetes mellitus and a significant risk for the development of microvascular complications, as judged by current glucose tolerance test criteria for such risk.
