[Pregnancy and ulcerative colitis (author's transl)].

K Junghanns.

Abstract

This is a report on two women (23 and 28 years old) both of them suffering from an exacerbation of a preexisting ulcerative colitis in the second month of their first pregnancy. In one case colectomy and abortion were necessary. The second patient was treated conservatively. An abortion was necessary later on. A study of the literature shows that in most cases an intensive conservative therapy is sufficient to save both mother and child.
