Abstract
Ulcerative colitis occurs chiefly in women in the reproductive age group. The disease tends to exacerbate in affected patients with florid colitis at time of conception. Toxic complications and severe haemorrhage are indications for surgical intervention at the earliest possible time. Treatment of choice consists of multiple enterostomies. Two female patients could be saved with this method. Proctocolectomies were always unsuccessful.Entities:
