Biochemical behavior of intestinal alkaline phosphatase from partially intact preparations.

F Pérez-Jiménez, J M Cano, J Muro, G DelaFuente.

Abstract

We have studied the behavior of intestinal alkaline phosphatase using partially intact preparations and pure enzyme. Our findings show that the native enzyme exhibits the typical behavior of pure free enzyme and shows a more optimal activity than the pure enzyme in the physiological pH range. Accordingly, we draw attention to the fact that the native enzyme works better at the physiological pH of jejunum.
