Pharmacokinetics as applied to total intravenous anaesthesia. Theoretical considerations.

H Schwilden, J Schüttler, H Stoekel.

Abstract

Some theoretical considerations of pharmacokinetics as applied to total intravenous anaesthesia are discussed. The problem is the need to achieve a concentration within the therapeutic range at the receptor site. The use of linear compartment models, and of the superposition principle within these models, is discussed.
