Diffusion-mediated localization on membrane surfaces.

D L Weaver.

Abstract

Using the model of a cell membrane of a spherical surface in which membrane components may diffuse, the rate of localization due to trapping under diffusion control has been estimated by computing an analytical expression for the mean trapping time including the possibilities of a trapping probability less than 1 and/or the establishment of an equilibrium at the trap boundary.
