Squamous cell papilloma of the esophagus. Report of a case after peptic esophagitis and repeated bougienage with review of the literature.

Abstract

A case of multiple squamous cell papillomas of the esophagus is reported. To date only 8 well documented cases of this entity have been described in the world's literature. We summarize the clinical and histological characteristics of esophageal squamous cell papillomas and discuss their possible etiology and appropriate management.
