Abstract
Debridement of the root canal system is essential for predictably successful endodontic therapy. The use of an endodontic irrigant during canal preparation is necessary to adequately debride the canal system. A review of the scientific evidence related to the desirable properties of an endodontic irrigant indicates that a solution of 5.25 per cent sodium hypochlorite is currently the irrigant of choice. This chemical agent exhibits powerful antimicrobial activity, is an excellent necrotic tissue solvent, and is the most efficient irrigant in removing organic debris from the root canal system.Entities:
