Factor VIII related antigen and mast cells.

L G Kindblom.

Abstract

Using an immunoperoxidase technique for the demonstration of factor VIII related antigen, a hitherto undescribed observation was made that human mast cells are positively stained for this coagulation factor. Mast cells of both connective tissue and mucosa origin were positively stained. The observation is considered to support the opinion that mast cells may play a role in local haemostasis.
