Abstract
The present review is concerned with the modern ideas about age-related changes of neurotransmitter receptors in the central nervous system and the possible ways of their pharmacological regulation. Based on the experimental data, attention has been paid to substantiation of the degree of maintenance of the receptor reactions in the CNS during aging in response to various pharmacological manipulations. Finally, the concept about an important role of the disturbances of neurotransmitter processes and their receptor link in the mechanisms of aging of the brain has been postulated.Mesh:
