A genetic method for determining the order of events in a biological pathway.

J Jarvik, D Botstein.

Abstract

We describe the application of a simple genetic test that indicates the order of events in a morphogenic or biochemical pathway. The test uses temperature-sensitive (ts) and cold-sensitive (cs) mutants, and it orders the times at which the ts and cs defects are expressed.
