Separation of serum bactericidal and opsonizing activities for Haemophilus influenzae type b.

Abstract

When assay conditions permitted bacterial growth, immune serum had no bactericidal activity for Haemophilus influenzae but promoted rapid phagocytic killing of this organism by human leukocytes.
