Stimulation of DNA-dependent RNA synthesis by a protein associated with ribosomes.

S P Mahadik, P R Srinivasan.

Abstract

A protein factor partially purified from ribosomes of Escherichia coli RC(rel) cells starved for an amino acid markedly stimulates DNA-dependent RNA synthesis by core and whole RNA polymerase. This protein factor appears to differ from the sigma factor and the M factor. The properties of this new factor and its mechanism of action have been explored.
