Digital sympathectomy for vascular insufficiency.

E F Wilgis.

Abstract

Digital sympathectomy for chronic vascular insufficiency has now been proved to be beneficial in the management of a select group of patients. These patients must be thoroughly evaluated preoperatively, must pass the cold stress test, and must experience improvement in response to cold stress following digital blockade to be considered candidates for this surgery. Complications to date have been minimal and the results are encouraging.
