Computed tomographic classification of patellofemoral pain patients.

S F Schutzer, G R Ramsby, J P Fulkerson.

Abstract

A preliminary study was undertaken at the University of Connecticut Sport Injury and Knee Clinic to evaluate a small series of patients with peripatellar pain as well as a group of asymptomatic controls. With the encouragement of the initial results, this experience has been expanded to include a larger number of patients. Based on CT criteria of subluxation and tilt, it has become possible to categorize patellofemoral tracking abnormalities. The purpose of this article is to clarify further a classification system for patellofemoral pain patients.
