Abstract
Introduction: pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is an autoimmune condition characterized by the loss of adhesion between the epithelial cells and blister formation. The production of autoantibodies against desmosomal proteins, namely, desmoglein (DSG) 1 and DSG3, is considered a main event of PV. A full understanding of the role of adhesion molecules in the pathogenesis of PV is not fully elucidated yet. This study aimed to evaluate and correlate the immunohistochemical expression of E-cadherin (E-cad), DSG1, and DSG3 proteins in oral and skin PV.Entities:

Figure 2correlation of cellular adhesion molecules, E-cadherin (E-cad) is positively and significantly associated with desmoglein (DSG) 3 but not with DSG1; in addition, DSG1 and DSG3 did not show any significant correlation (*p-value = 0.003 by Spearman’s correlation test)
