The complications of diabetes mellitus.

W L Henry.

Abstract

The present concept of the pathogenesis of diabetic complications is discussed with particular emphasis on abnormalities in sorbitol and myoinositol metabolism and the effects of glycosylation of proteins. The modern approach to selected chronic complications of diabetes, particularly those that have serious and troubling implications, are reviewed.
