Abstract
During the past five decades, major technological advances, including availability of imaging techniques such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography scans, have improved accurate assessment of tumors. Major advances in reconstructive surgery with development of microvascular free-flap reconstruction have made one-stage resection and reconstruction a reality, leading to a better quality of life. Multimodality treatments combining chemotherapy with radiation have led to development of organ preservation strategies and improved locoregional control of head and neck cancer.Entities:
