Abstract
Harmful alcohol consumption is shaped by a complex range of structural, social, and individual determinants that interact with inequality axes, which can be addressed at the community level. Under the framework of Barcelona Health in the Neighborhoods, which is a community strategy to reduce health inequalities in Barcelona's most deprived neighborhoods, a community steering group will co-design a multicomponent community intervention. Aims: to assess its effects on: (1) alcohol accessibility, availability, and consumption at the environmental level, and (2) psychosocial and cognitive determinants of harmful alcohol consumption at the individual level.Entities:
Keywords: alcohol accessibility; alcohol availability; community participation; community-based interventions; harmful alcohol consumption

1 Calculated as the sum of the hierarchical score of the 73 neighborhoods (or 10 districts) by 4 indicators: the rate of treatment initiations for alcohol and other drugs, the overdose mortality rate, the rate of emergencies for alcohol and other drug users, and the number of syringes found on the street. Scale from 0 to 5: not problematic at all to very problematic. It is an estimate of disposable income presented in the form of a ratio between the income of the neighborhood and the average for Barcelona as a whole, which is 100. The higher the value of RFD, the greater the economic capacity of the neighborhood, and the lower the value of RFD, the lower the economic capacity of the neighborhood.
