BACKGROUND: Healthcare professionals play a key role in interacting with children who have a parent with a life-limiting illness. While playing such a role can be challenging, not much is known about how such interactions impact these professionals and affect their ability to render support.Entities:

Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria

| Children 12 years and below with a parent dying of a life-limiting illness (including but not limited to cancers, end organ disease/failure and neurological conditions) | Children aged 13 years and above or already bereaved. Dying patient is a sibling/child, or an adult on whom the child is not dependent. Potential or final cause of death not due to life-limiting illness (e.g., suicide, drowning, road traffic accident) |
| Empirical studies including perspectives from health, social and spiritual care professionals working in a clinical capacity where they support terminally ill patients (including but not limited to Palliative Medicine, Oncology and Geriatrics). Such professionals include doctors, nurses, social workers, allied health, counsellors and chaplains | Studies that exclusively include stakeholders apart from health professionals, e.g., child, parent. Studies where patients received terminal or end-of-life care in Intensive Treatment Unit/ Accident and Emergency Department |
