Abstract
An enzyme histochemical method and histomorphological examination were applied in the cases of 37 patients with cytological atypia. Good agreement was found between the presence of aberrant glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) activity (metabolic atypia) and histopathologically demonstrable dysplasia. Only three women with metabolic atypia showed a normal histopathological picture. The results suggest that enzyme histochemistry may also be a valuable supplement to histopathology in the diagnosis of cervical neoplastic changes.Entities:
