Abstract
BACKGROUND: Fear of COVID-19 leads to stress and may result in various kinds of mental health problems. Many factors are associated with an individual's perception of stress, including neuroticism and perceived social support. This study aimed to examine the role of neuroticism and perceived social support as mediators of fear of COVID-19 on perceived stress.Entities:

Figure 1Hypothetical parallel mediation model description. The coefficient “a1” symbolizes the regression coefficient between fear of COVID-19 and neuroticism; the coefficient “b1”, between neuroticism and perceived stress. The coefficient “a2” refers to the sectional regression coefficient between fear of COVID-19 and perceived social support; the coefficient “b2”, between perceived social support and perceived stress; and the correlation “d”, between neuroticism and perceived social support. The coefficient “c’” represents the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and perceived stress when the mediators are added. The coefficient “c” stands for the coefficient in the regression model without the mediators.
