Abstract
BACKGROUNDS: This randomized controlled trial aimed to investigate the effects of replacing red meat with legumes in the dietary approach to stop hypertension (DASH) diet on inflammatory markers over 16 weeks in overweight and obese individuals with type 2 diabetes. Also, the modulatory effects of TCF7L2 rs7903146 variant on this effect were assessed.Entities:

DASH, dietary approach to stop hypertension; FPG, fasting plasma glucose; WC, waist circumference; HOMA-IR, homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance; Pi, P for interaction between TCF7L2 rs7903146 gene variant and intervention diets
Data for change in primary and secondary outcomes are express as mean (95% confidence interval)
Model 1 adjusted for baseline values
Model 2 adjusted for baseline values and oral anti-diabetic medications
P values were calculated by ANCOVA
q value were calculated by Benjamini–Hochberg correction and Q < 0.2 is significant
