Abstract
Liver cirrhosis is the 14th leading cause of death in adults worldwide. The liver is an important organ for the metabolism of sugar, protein, and fat. Liver cirrhosis with hypoproteinemia (LCH) can lead to metabolic disorders of the nutrients such as sugar, protein, and fat, as well as insufficient protein intake, digestion and absorption disorders, and continuous leakage of plasma protein into the abdominal cavity. Severe hypoproteinemia leads to a poor prognosis in patients. For every 10 g/L decrease in peripheral blood albumin, the risk of secondary liver disease complications will increase by 89% and the mortality rate increased by 24%-56%. Therefore, it is necessary to take urgent measures to treat liver cirrhosis with hypoalbuminemia and effectively treat and reverse the deterioration of the disease caused by hypoalbuminemia, so as to reduce the burden of secondary liver disease. Emerging evidence suggests that protein balance disorders, auxin resistance, and hyperleptinemia are key steps in the development of cirrhosis and hypoproteinemia. This study comprehensively analyzed the common complications, pathogenic mechanisms, and treatment status of cirrhosis caused by hypoproteinemia and proposed research prospects for dealing with this increasingly serious problem.Entities:
