A multilevel logistic model was used nested in prefectures of residence. Multivariable model included sex, age, educational background, equivalent annual income, marital status, occupation, industry, and self‐rated health.

Unemployment because of negative reasons means that people were unemployed because they did not want to be, but were forced into an environment where they had to be. The unemployment defined as two options: "I stopped working and was unemployed for a period of time but am now working" and "I stopped working and am currently not working (including job seeking)."
