Figure 1The Impact of a Healthy Lifestyle on Cancer, CVD, and T2D
A healthy lifestyle index (defined by not smoking, meeting recommended physical activity levels, following a healthy diet, moderate consumption of alcohol, and moderate sleep duration) was associated with 1) decreased risk for cancer, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and type 2 diabetes (T2D) in a healthy population; 2) decreased risk for CVD and T2D in those who developed cancer; and 3) decreased risk for CVD and T2D in patients with histories of cancer. Downward arrows represent decreased risk.
