Abstract
Conduction in focally demyelinated frog nerves has been measured optically using potential-sensitive dyes. Absorption changes were recorded with an array of photodiodes positioned in the image plane of a microscope. Both the amplitude and conduction velocity of the optical signals decreased in the demyelinated region. Conduction was improved after exposure to the potassium channel blocking agent 4-aminopyridine.Entities:
