Abstract
BACKGROUND: False assumptions regarding the generalizability of patients' expectations and preferences across different demographic groups may contribute in part to the increased prevalence of negative peripartum outcomes seen among women of color. The intention of this study was to determine preferences and concerns regarding anesthesia care during cesarean delivery in a largely African-American population and to compare them to those obtained in a prior study conducted in a demographically distinct population.Entities:

Dollars allocation.
| Your rank | Dollars allocation | Description of possible anesthesia outcomes |
|---|---|---|
| ________ | ________ | Pain: During surgery, you feel some pain and discomfort while the surgeon is doing the cesarean section. |
| ________ | ________ | Itching: You are itching all over your body. Scratching does not relieve the itching. |
| ________ | ________ | Nausea: You want to throw up, but cannot. Your mouth is dry and you are sweating. You feel worse if you move. |
| ________ | ________ | Nervousness: You are scared and anxious about the surgery. |
| You are jittery like the feeling you get prior to speaking in public. | ||
| ________ | ________ | Shivering: Your large muscles start to shake and the shivering travels to your whole body that shakes uncontrollably. |
| ________ | ________ | Cramping: You have intermittent abdominal and uterine cramps. You experience waves of spasm and painful cramps. |
| ________ | ________ | Good recovery: You are lying comfortably in the recovery room. You have no pain and no nausea, feel good, and are able to spend time with your baby. |
| ________ | ________ | Sleepy: During and after surgery you feel tired and unable to remain awake, drifting off to sleep continuously. |
| ________ | ________ | Vomiting: You want to retch. You cannot eat or keep any liquids down. |
| ________ | ________ | Pain: After surgery, your surgical incision really hurts. |
| Movement makes the pain worse and no position makes the pain better. |
