Use of a commercial ELISA test for the diagnosis of infection by the AIDS virus, HIV, in a patient population.

J E Johnson.

Abstract

A commericially obtained enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay system has been used on an investigative basis since May 1985 for the detection of HTLV-III antibodies in patient sera. Histories, obtained both with the specimen and retrospectively, confirm that the Abbott enzyme immunoassay system is extremely sensitive when used to support a clinician's diagnosis of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
