We congratulate Mrabti H. and al [1]. for the original study conducted to highlight the great progress made in Morocco to organize oncology services with quality. Targeting EUSOMA quality standards [2] seems to have a positive impact on 5-years disease-free survival. However, we regret that chronic pain assessment and management are not included in those criteria. Indeed, surgery remains a central point of curative treatment, and chronic pain after surgery in breast cancer is frequent and associated with morbidity [3] and deterioration in quality of life, including in declared cured patients. Preliminary result from the observational prospective cohort study (Clinicaltrials.gov: NCT02329574) conducted between 2018 and 2020 in National institute of oncology of rabat (Morocco), show an incidence of 38, 6% of chronic pain (n = 722), at 3 months after surgery. We suggest that chronic pain-free survival should be considered as a high value quality of life indicator, or at least, chronic pain assessment should be systematically included all along post-treatment follow-up.
